De OPENING in Eindhoven (laatste weekend van augustus, 28 tot en met 30 augustus) is de landelijke start van het culturele seizoen in Nederland – een soort “aftrapfestival” waarin cultuurinstellingen laten zien wat er het komende jaar te zien is.
It is the successor to the former Uitmarkt: a national, free-to-attend cultural weekend featuring performances, previews and presentations in theatre, music, art and design.
In 2026, Eindhoven is the host city, making it the temporary cultural heart of the Netherlands.
For museums, DE OPENING serves as a clear showcase and key public moment. Museums in Eindhoven’s city centre are working together on a special campaign to inform visitors about all the wonderful things they have to offer. The museums are part of a larger whole: the city presents itself as a cultural destination, with museums as an important pillar.
