‘Heart for DAF days’ a great success
Last weekend, the DAF Museum organised the ‘Heart for DAF days’.
Last weekend, the DAF Museum organised the ‘Heart for DAF days’ to draw attention to 75 years of DAF truck production. In addition to the museum collection, almost 100 classic DAF vehicles were collected on the DAF Eindhoven site. The event attracted over 2,200 visitors and was a great success.
The ‘Heart for DAF days’ are the successor to the museum days that were organised by the DAF Museum until six years ago. Large and small DAFs could be admired on the factory site. In the museum itself, miniatures were shown, among other things, and you could browse through DAF memorabilia.
Chairman of the Board of the DAF Museum Marc Hendrikse (r) and President Harald Seidel view several DAF miniatures.
On Saturday morning, owners of dozens of historic DAFs had driven from far and wide to the DAF site to have their vehicles admired. A fire engine from 1954, a DAF 900 from 1976, a DAF 2300 from 1983; there was no end to it. A special eye-catcher was the DAF 3300 with trailer that was used by the late actor Rutger Hauer as a camper on the film set.

The ‘DAF Proefbaantje’ was also launched with great success. The DAF Museum has developed four of its own beers in collaboration with Lighttown Brewers. The names of these beers are linked to DAF history: The Bull, the Variomaatje, a Pienter Pookje (low-alcohol) and Intercooler. All packages that were available are sold out, but they will soon be available again in the DAF Museum: the package (€14.50) in the museum shop and individual bottles for consumption in the Daffetaria.
Visitors to the days were transported between the DAF Museum and the DAF site in old buses, a collaboration with the Stichting Veteranen Autobussen. Children loved it, but adults also enjoyed it to the fullest.
Anyone who wants to visit the DAF Museum soon (again): a new exhibition about 75 years of truck production will start on 1 November.
