Interesting presentation on collaboration with Fontys

For some time now, we at the DAF Museum have been collaborating with Fontys University of Applied Sciences on automotive projects. Students are not only working on converting a DAF 66 station wagon to hydrogen, but they are also engaged in various other research initiatives!

On Monday, January 27, around 50 students from Fontys, working on their Minor, gave a presentation in the theater hall of the Museum about various automotive projects. It was truly interesting to see what the future automotive professionals are working on.

Electrification was a key theme in many of the projects.

For instance, two students presented their research on the air resistance of vehicles. They had conducted calculations for various vehicles, and thanks to scale models tested in our Truck Academy wind tunnel, the Ford F150 came out on top.

Another group had a ready-to-test electric go-kart for the circuit. Additionally, one student talked about the electrification of a beautiful, restored Ford Transit belonging to a teacher. Unfortunately, the conversion costs were too high, so they opted for a classic Volvo Amazon instead. Two other students were converting a chassis of an Ultima sports car, previously used by other students, into an electric circuit racer.

After all these presentations, there was also a tour of the museum, which was very well received. It was a successful event that is definitely worth repeating!
