DAF Museum Receives International Heritage Award from FIVA and TICCIH

This week, the DAF Museum in Eindhoven was honored with a unique international award, presented by Jos Theuns, Vice President of FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens). The award was granted in collaboration with TICCIH (The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage). The DAF Museum was selected from no fewer than 140 submissions worldwide, and during FIVA’s General Assembly in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, the museum ultimately received this prestigious combined award. The nomination for the Netherlands was submitted by FEHAC (Federation of Historic Automobile and Motorcycle Clubs).

Multiple Reasons for Awarding the DAF Museum

The combined distinction was granted due to the unique combination of rolling heritage and the historical location of the DAF Museum—the very site where DAF began in 1928, nearly a century ago. The museum not only tells the story of the brand but keeps its heritage alive thanks to dedicated volunteers who devote their well-earned retirement to sharing the company’s history and products with visitors. In addition, the DAF Museum plays an important educational role by inviting schools weekly for workshops on topics such as car design, technology, and other automotive aspects.

Proud of the Recognition

“This award is a wonderful recognition for everyone who works to keep the story of DAF alive,” says Marc Hendrikse, Chairman of the DAF Museum. “It is not only an honor for our museum but especially for our volunteers. They are the heart of our heritage and ensure that visitors continue to experience the family spirit of DAF.”

About FIVA and TICCIH

FIVA is committed worldwide to preserving historic vehicle heritage, while TICCIH focuses on industrial heritage. Together, they emphasize with this award the importance of locations where technology, history, and human engagement come together.
The prize—a plaque that will be prominently displayed in the DAF Museum—was presented during a festive gathering on December 14, 2025. Each year, FIVA members can nominate individuals or institutions that have made a significant contribution to protecting, preserving, and promoting the cultural heritage of historic vehicles.
